Atlanta City Nature Challenge

OLPA is partnering with Fernbank Museum of Natural History on the first ever Atlanta City Nature Challenge. The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is a world-wide event allowing cities to compete in a challenge to see who can tally the most nature observations. CNC began in 2016 as a friendly competition between Los Angeles and San Francisco coordinated by California Academy of Sciences and Los Angeles Museum of Natural History. Over 430,000 observations were made during the 2018 challenge. This bio-blitz type event encourages citizen scientists of all ages to participate

The goals of the CNC are:
1) get people outside in metro Atlanta contributing to citizen science through the free app, iNaturalist and;
2) to record as many species (plants, animals, fungi, etc.) as possible during April 26-29th.

Metro Atlanta will be competing with over 100 other cities across the globe. Anyone who wants to be involved can make observations on their own or join one of many guided programs across the metro area.
